Signs of Quality

A professional quality shoe will give your back and knees the best support as you train—especially important as we get older, ahem… as we develop into more experienced flamenco dancers ;)

Get the best quality you can afford. I prefer a secondhand professional shoe to a new beginners shoe because I am not taking any chances with my back and knees—I want longevity in this gorgeous Flamenco world.

See the pictures here for the kind of stitching you will see on the bottom of a professional shoe that indicate the strong support. Sound quality is determined by the quantity and placement of the nails in the toe and heel. The black pair has student nails—sparse. The red shoe is completely covered in the toe and the heel by dense nails—these will have great sound.
