$20.00

Single Flamenco Class: Drop In, 1 hour long

Does not expire.

Try the Absolute Beginner Class if you have little to no experience with Flamenco or try the Advanced Beginner Class if you have taken Flamenco before.

The Absolute Beginner Class will focus on the fundamentals of learning flamenco: proper posture, arm movements (braceo), footwork (taconeo), hand movements (floreo), and basic movement combinations, as well as some of the history, customs, and rhythms surrounding flamenco and how it came to be the national dance of Spain, as well as becoming wildly popular all over the world. No experience necessary. This class meets for 6 sessions on Sundays, September 7-October 12, from 12:00pm-12:50pm.

The Advanced Begginer class will continue to train the fundamentals while increasing the difficulty level, focusing on the core braceo, taconeo, and combinations that form the foundation of Flamenco choreography. Half the class will focus on technique and the other half will focus on movement combinations for Tangos and Bulerias. This class meets for 6 sessions on Sundays, September 7-October 12, from 1:00pm-1:50pm.

The class location is Dance Connection Studio, 221 Center Street Grayslake. We will be at the back studio, so park in the lot behind the dance studio off of S. Whitney Street.

This class is open to students of all ages (over 13), fitness levels, and genders; everyone is absolutely welcome.

What to wear: Please wear comfortable clothing. Some students prefer leggings or sweatpants, while some prefer a long ruffled skirt. Some choreography does use the skirt. A closer fitting top is preferred so posture can be seen and technique development can be supported. Sneakers are okay until flamenco shoes can be purchased; Advanced Beginners should purchase flamenco shoes. Please contact me for help finding flamenco shoes or find a reputable shop online. You can find secondhand flamenco shoes on Facebook in the public group called Flamenco Marketplace.

Payment can be made here online ahead of class or in cash/venmo when you attend class in person. Contact me with any questions at all.
